Welcome to Kedai Makanan Ban Lee, a gem nestled at 222, Jln Sultan Azlan Shah, 51200 Kuala Lumpur. This charming Chinese restaurant specializes in authentic Bak Kut Teh (BKT), a beloved dish that has become synonymous with warmth and comfort for many locals and visitors alike. With its inviting atmosphere and mouthwatering menu, Ban Lee promises a dining experience that is both memorable and satisfying.

As you enter, you'll be greeted by a cozy ambiance, perfect for family gatherings or casual lunches with friends. The rustic decor, combined with the enticing aroma wafting from the kitchen, sets the stage for an inviting culinary journey. The restaurant is well-kept, ensuring a pleasant dining environment that highlights the flavors of the cuisine.

The star of the menu is, of course, the Bak Kut Teh. This Teochew-style broth brims with herbal undertones and is perfectly balanced, offering a delightful experience for your taste buds. Customers have raved about its rich flavor—John D'Cruz describes it as having a "strong herbal taste" that is less pronounced in the claypot, resulting in a harmonious blend of ingredients. For those who are new to this iconic dish, this welcoming introduction makes it hard to resist diving in for seconds.

Pair your Bak Kut Teh with some Yau Cha Kue. Fresh and crispy, these deep-fried dough sticks embody the essence of comfort food, providing the perfect texture to dip into the savory broth. Ryan’s review highlights the harmony between the fried Yau Cha Kue and the well-balanced broth, ensuring every bite is a delight.

If you're looking to indulge, the Braised Pork Leg is a tasty option, though some suggest letting it cook a touch longer for that perfect tenderness. Meanwhile, the claypot pork shoulder offerings are also a hit, with many guests praising the flavor infused into the meat.

Though a few reviewers mentioned the drink menu could use more variety, it’s hard to ignore the stellar dishes that take center stage. Chris D's note on the ambience reflects a clean, welcoming space, reinforcing that Kedai Makanan Ban Lee is a place you’ll want to revisit.

In summary, Kedai Makanan Ban Lee is not just another eatery; it's a culinary experience where each dish speaks to the heart of Malaysian cuisine. Whether you're a long-time enthusiast of Bak Kut Teh or a curious first-timer, this restaurant charms with its authentic flavors and warm service, making it a must-visit during your time in Kuala Lumpur.

The BKT here is the Teochew style with strong herbal taste. In the Claypot with vegetables, mushrooms and tofu skins, the herbal taste is less pronounced and more balanced. This is Recommended. The Braised Pork Leg had a nice taste but need a little more cooking. This was lunch time, so the pork leg would be just nice for dinner. The Yau Cha Kue was fresh and crispy. Best to dunk in the BKT soup.

Found the pork rather dry and tough. Soup was tasty, although I was hoping for more varied ingredients compared to some that I've tried in JB. Quite limited drink options. Ambience was good, generally a clean place.

We came here for lunch at the recommendation from a colleague. Along with most of their customers, we parked right outside the restaurant. It wasn't too crowded, and we got a table instantly. The bak kut teh was good. It was flavourful but wasn't too heavily aromatic. The pork was cooked just long enough for the meat to be tender. We had some other side dishes, such as claypot pork shoulders and stir fried vegetables. It was a pleasant but heavy lunch for a workday.

I flew from Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur, and for my first meal after landing, my friend took me to this Bak Kut Teh restaurant. I had spent quite a long time in Singapore, but I was never really a fan of the Teochew-style peppery soup Bak Kut Teh. My favorite is still the Malaysian Hokkien-style herbal soup Bak Kut Teh. Personally, I think the pork stomach in Bak Kut Teh is the best part!!

Old school Bak Kut Teh restaurant, parking surrounding the buildings or there is a paid parking lot spaces behind the building as well (if not mistaken should be RM6) Not a fans of BKT but the broth here is well balanced in flavor (sweet, salt and herbal), my favourite would be the fried youtiao which is fresh and crunchy and pairs well with the broth as usual xD Feel free to give it a try ;)

Bak kut teh shop. This place has been operating for a long time. Over the years, it still tastes good. The soup here has a very herbal taste. Meat is not overly cooked. Only setback, place is quite hot and parking is difficult to find

For those who love very very strong and slightly thick herb tasting BKT. Not for those who like to fill up their rice with BKT soup and drink the bkt nonstop.
